 Brief History About THE HEADIES 

The Headies have become one of the most anticipated and prestigious music awards events in Nigeria, recognizing and celebrating the achievements of artists across various categories, including Rookie of the Year, Best Album, and Best Collaboration



The Headies, originally known as the Hip Hop World Awards, are a Nigerian music awards show established in 2006 by Hip Hop World Magazine to recognize outstanding achievements in the music industry. The awards ceremony, which features performances by both established and emerging artists, is broadcast live on Hip

The Headies were founded by Ayo Animashaun of Hip Hop World Magazine. The first ceremony took place on March 10, 2006, at the MUSON Centre in Lagos. 

The HEADIES has produce winners over the years and in the year 2025, here are the nominees and winners of it according to categories.

The 17th edition of the Headies awards was held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, celebrating the music industry’s brightest stars. Big winners of the night included Zerry DL, Tems, Flavour, Rema, and Davido and lot more.

Important Presence Like The Governor of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Socialite Cubana Chief priest, Tanzanian Singer JUX and his wife Priscilla, Big Brother 2021 winner White Money, Nollywood Achalugo, BamBam, Actress and Wife of Billionaire Politician Regina Daniels.

Other notable guests included Collins Enebeli Ajereh, father of Mavin Records’ boss Don Jazzy, and Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso.
